CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Class Descriptions

Gentle Yoga-  Appropriate for beginning students, individuals recovering from illness or injuries, and for women who are pregnant. The class consists of flowing, non-strenuous yoga movements designed to gently stretch skeletal muscles and deeply relax the nervous system.

Moderate Yoga- Using classical yoga postures to stretch and strengthen the body, this class is led in a slow meditative manner with longer holding to generate heat, encouraging the body to release deep-seated tension.

Yoga Workout-  Recommended for more experienced students who want a more vigorous yoga experience. This class focuses on strengthening and limbering the body.

Multi-level Yoga- This class combines Gentle and Moderate Yoga instruction into one class.  Multi-level classes allow you to see where you can go with poses while encouraging you to be where you are.  Modifications and variations are offered to increase or decrease intensity.  This class is a safe place to experiment as your strength and flexibility increases.

Compassionate Flow- Move through a varied sequence of traditional yoga postures focusing on synchronizing the breath with movement. This class is designed to strengthen and energize the body while increasing self-awareness.

Yin Yoga- A slow-paced style of yoga where postures are held for longer periods of time on the mat, allowing the student to work deeper, benefitting the mind and body.

Gentle Restorative Yoga-  This relaxing style of yoga allows the body to fully experience total relaxation leaving the body feeling open and refreshed.  Restorative Yoga is especially healing for those with high stress, injuries, or physical challenges.  It lowers blood pressure, heart rate, triglycerides and blood sugar levels, while boosting immunity, oxygen levels in the blood and flexibility. During a Restorative Yoga class you still stretch, but you relax fully in the stretch slowly releasing tension in the body.

Pilates-  This class strengthens the core abdominal muscles which support a healthy back and a stronger body.  This one hour class works the entire body on the mat and on the ball.

Kids Yoga – This 45 minute class is designed to introduce children to the peaceful art of yoga.  The children will learn simple breathing techniques and postures in a fun, playful class.

Parents Yoga is offered at the same times and follows the same basic curriculum as the Kids Yoga class, yet more suited for adults.

*Kids and parents yoga is offered during the summer months
